Identifying the Type of Question
Understanding the difference between a question that drives research and one that suggests a practice improvement process is essential for the DNP student. For your capstone project, you will identify an area of practice in need of improvement and plan an intervention. Spending time gaining clarity about the differences early on will help you maintain focus at the end of your program.
Tasks:
On the basis of your review of the scenarios, in a 1- to 2-page APA-formatted paper, respond to the following:
- Identify the question driving the inquiry. Refer to the scenario by number for brevity, and state the question in your paper.
- State whether the question will require a research study, is a question for a practice change project, or is a background question. If this is a PICOT question, state what format it is in; intervention, prognosis or prediction, etc.
- Explain the rationale for your decisions.
