In the 19thcentury I do not believe women adapted favorably to life in the American West. Then causing strong women to become rebellious towards their traditions breaking the norm. During the 19thcentury women stood in the shadows of their of their men, their only jobs as women was cooking, cleaning, and caring for the children. Nothing more but some women broke off from the norm speaking out for women’s rights making their voices heard. It was a challenging act of courage for these ladies but they pioneered through. These women all wanted the same thing, equality to no longer be looked at as less than. They had the ability to take on anything a man can. Women all over were making a change but the ladies in the west did not take it lightly. They were committing “illegal” acts that are no longer illegal such as dressing in the other genders clothing, gambling, and drinking. Making these changes gained opportunities for women other than a housewife by joining the workforce. They were creating lives for themselves creating their own shadow representing the acceptance of women to pursue anything they wanted.
