Carter G. Woodson’s Miseducation of the Negro, published in 1933, examines the psychological effects of the American educational system on African American children, which he believes promotes their inferiority. Specifically, the lack of texts by, or about, African Americans leads Black students to feel as if their history and scholarship is not important.
