Research has shown that certain combinations of personality traits fit well with different career paths. Thus, personality trait tests for specific jobs can be predictive of both success and satisfaction. Understanding your own personality-trait combinations can give you great insight into your own strengths and weaknesses. With this understanding, you can work to grow your strengths and minimize your weaknesses.

In this assignment, you will explore your personality using a personality test and then analyze the results.

Part 1

First, explore your personality preferences by completing Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MTBI). The full version of the test can only be administered by a trained professional; however, there are many online informal versions of the test which you can find on the Internet. You can search for the test using any one of the following keywords:

• Myers-Briggs test

Record your four-lettered personality type after completion of the test and use the Internet to interpret your personality type.

Part 2

In this part of the assignment, you will write a research paper that analyses your results. Do the following:

• Mention your four-letter type and the URL of the Web site where you took the test.
• Discuss whether this type accurately represents what you know about yourself. Examine the four spectrums and explain your answer thoroughly. Substantiate your agreement or disagreement with real-life behavioral examples.
• Analyze what you consider the strengths and the weaknesses or challenges of this type. List three strengths and three weaknesses and provide a rationale for each.
• Evaluate why this test could be a valuable tool for an employer.
• Analyze how a clinician may use this test as a tool for promoting meaningful interventions in treatment.

Ethics has been broadly defined as concerning certain issues or situations as being fair/unfair, right/wrong, or just/unjust according to the values adopted by a given culture or society.  These values act as the acceptable standards developed and nurtured by society.  As societies have developed and become more knowledge-oriented and socially alert, the need for social responsibility has increased.  According to Davis and Blomstrom (1975), social responsibility is “the obligation of decision makers to take actions which protect and improve the welfare of society as a whole along with their own interests” (p. 39).

 

Throughout the course of your graduate studies, you have studied a variety of social problems and issues.

·       Identify and discuss the top five (5) ethical issues confronting your field of study.

·       After you have briefly addressed each ethical issue, then rank them according to the literature in your field of study and/or by the importance placed upon them by the current media.  As you rank them, please document your sources and justification for the ranking. 

·       Analyze each ethical issue according to its impact on the field, relevance to the current and future stakeholders in the field, and make any and all recommendations for improving such ethical issues, situations or dilemmas that impact your field of study.  During this analysis, please consider the issue of social responsibility and how leaders in your field have addressed these ethical issues.

Assignment:  You will be writing about a song that has personal meaning to you.  This song can be from any genre and can be any style of music.  You will use concepts learned thus far in class to the best of your ability in writing about the music. Discuss the music in terms of use of melody, harmony, rhythm, dynamics, form, tempo, lyrical content (if any) and the three domains of listening.

Some questions you could answer include: What is your personal connection to this piece of music?  What function does this song serve for you?  How does this piece of music compare to other types of music that you listen to?  How is it similar or different?  What does this music say about the culture that created it? 

The written assignment must be at least 500 words, double-spaced and typed.  You will also be asked to bring this piece of music into class to share with your peers.  While there are few limitations on the song that you choose, please don’t bring in a song with excessive profanity or strong sexual themes. 

You will also be required to turn in a listening guide to accompany your song.  This listening guide the reader through the different elements of the song.
