Your final project should be creative and interesting, and should be a minimum of 6 pages in length not to exceed 8 pages and you will use APA style formatting. It should be well-organized and demonstrate an orderly flow of information that clearly addresses the subject chosen.

You should incorporate the following elements in the project:

1. Problem identification: Clearly indicate the issue you will discuss and the influence this problem has on land, air, water resources, plant life, animal life, and human societies. Discuss the long-term effects this problem will continue to create without a comprehensive solution. The problem can be of local, national, or global scope.
2. Solutions currently implemented: Discuss how the issue has been addressed historically. Determine the courses of action taken in science, technology, political and economic systems, laws and regulations, community-based initiatives, education, and so forth. Review the successes and limitations of these actions.
3. Recommendations: Explain the actions that you believe need to be developed and implemented to accomplish change. Discuss your solution from multiple perspectives, such as educational, legislative, scientific, technological, economic, and other points of view.

In addition you should cite at least three other credible sources. Put these on your last page as works cited. You are cautioned to check out internet sources. The web abounds with junk science that is totally unreliable. Be sure to cross check your sources

Recommended Format

1.  Statement of Problem(s)

This section should contain a statement of the problem(s) which the case will attempt to solve.  Although there may be more than one problem, there is usually one primary problem which is the underlying cause of the other secondary problems.  Determine this primary problem and be fairly specific. 

2.  Relevant Facts of the Case

This section should include facts of the case which are pertinent to the problem or to the solution offered.  In other words, the identification of facts relevant to the problem(s) within the case so as to make an intelligence solution. 

3.  Additional Data

Sometimes additional data may be desirable, especially in real-life cases.  Use of secondary sources in the library is

acceptable and encouraged. 

4.  Assumptions

In order to avoid a dead-end, you may occasionally need to make certain assumptions about the situation.  These should be clear, logical and consistent with the known facts of the case.

5.  Identification of Alternative Courses of Action

As you analyze the relevant facts of the case, alternative courses of action or possible solutions to the problems will come to mind.  These alternatives must actually be alternative course of action; in other words, each alternative presented must be a different course of actions.

6.  Evaluation of These Alternative Courses of Action

Analysis of the alternatives consists in part of attempting to predict the probable effects upon, or reaction of, the many variables which influence the success or failure of a course of action.  Each alternative must be examined in much the same way as the initial problem.

7.  Recommended Solution

The next step in preparing a case analysis is to arrive at a decision as to the proper course of action to be taken in order to solve the problems facing the company; in other words, the selection of the course of action that provides the best answer to the problem.

8.  Implementation of Your Decision

You are required to develop detailed or precise answers on how to implement your selected alternative

You are working as a school counselor in an elementary school in a rural community. You are also on the city council and are involved in your local faith-based community. As such, you know most people in the community.

You have instituted an abuse prevention program for the school, including a component with a series of books and skits. After one of your presentations, you are referred to twins, Jonah and Joann. The children are in fifth grade and have been referred to you after repeatedly showing up at school in the late spring unkempt and wearing long-sleeved shirts, despite the heat and lack of air conditioning in the school. At recess, their teacher notices a series of bruises on their arms. As the teacher, Ms. Jones, makes a referral to you. She says, “I always knew there was a problem with the Johnson twins, but no one dares say anything because of how mean their father is.”

After some discussion with the children, they disclose that they sometimes are hit or grabbed if they are bad. You see bruises and know that you have to file a report but are concerned about what will happen to the children after you report. Their father has a reputation around town of threatening people, and you are worried about what may happen to both you and the children following the report.

Write a 1,500- to 1,750-word paper, based on the case presented above, on prevention methods and interventions in different settings. Include the following in your paper:
