Risk Assessment Plan 

We all face potential hazards in our workplaces and in our homes. Ideally we can eliminate or control many of these; however, if and when they occur, a Risk Assessment Plan is our best defense. To understand the preparation and use of such a plan, consider your past or present workplace or your home.

1. Identify at least three possible risks that exist in your workplace or home.
2. For each of the three or more risks:
   • Describe the task being performed when the risk might occur (washing dishes, moving a desk, etc.).
   • Locate where the risk may occur (office, garage, etc.).
   • Describe the hazard type (shock, fall, etc.).
   • Summarize the consequences of the risk (death, fire, etc.).
   • Prepare a description of how to control the hazard once it occurs (dilute, neutralize, etc.).
   • Choose what personal safety equipment, tools, or other items that should be readily available in advance of the hazard occurring.

Writing the Paper

1. Must be three to four double-spaced pages in length (not including the title and reference pages), and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
2. Must include a title page with the following:
   • Title of paper
   • Student’s name
   • Course name and number
   • Instructor’s name
   • Date submitted
3. Must begin with an introductory paragraph that has a succinct thesis statement.
4. Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought.
5. Must end with a conclusion that reaffirms your thesis.
6. Must use at least four scholarly sources, including a minimum of two from the Ashford Online Library.
7. Must document all sources in APA style, as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
8. Must include a separate reference page, formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

Carefully review the Grading Rubric for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your assignment.

In Ashford courses, there are two different ways to submit assignments for grading. Depending on the system the course utilizes, assignments will either be submitted via the classroom Assignment Basket  or Waypoint .    Waypoint Assignment Submission  The assignments in this course will be submitted to Waypoint.  Please refer to the instructions below to submit your assignment. 1. The SCR in Figure 1 below requires a 3 V trigger.  Using Multsim, design a system by which the gears are shifted when a CdS photocell resistance drops below 4k.

1. Using Multisim, design a system by which a control signal of 4 to 20 mA is converted into a force of 200 to 1000N.  Use a pneumatic actuator and specify the required diaphragm area if the pressure output is to be in the range of 20 to 100kPa.  An I/P converter is available that converts 0 to 5 V into 20 to 100 kPa.  A block diagraph of the system is shown below.  (Hint:  Use a differential amplifier.  You are only designing the circuit to interface into the I/P below)

Choose an industry you have not yet written about in this course LG ELECTRONICS OR APPLE, and one publicly traded corporation within that industry. Research the company on its own Website, the public filings on the Securities and Exchange Commission EDGAR database (http://www.sec.gov/edgar.shtml), in the University’s online databases, and any other sources you can find. The annual report will often provide insights that can help address some of these questions.

Write an eight to ten (8-10) page paper in which you: LG ELECTRONICS OR APPLE ONLY

1. Choose the two (2) segments of the general environment that would rank highest in their influence on the corporation you chose. Assess how these segments affect the corporation you chose and the industry in which it operates.
2. Considering the five (5) forces of competition, choose the two (2) that you estimate are the most significant for the corporation you chose. Evaluate how well the company has addressed these two (2) forces in the recent past.
3. With the same two (2) forces in mind, predict what the company might do to improve its ability to address these forces in the near future.
4. Assess the external threats affecting this corporation and the opportunities available to the corporation. Give your opinions on how the corporation should deal with the most serious threat and the greatest opportunity. Justify your answer.
5. Give your opinion on the corporation’s greatest strengths and most significant weaknesses.  Choose the strategy or tactic the corporation should select to take maximum advantage of its strengths, and the strategy or tactic the corporation should select to fix its most significant weakness. Justify your choices.
6. Determine the company’s resources, capabilities, and core competencies.
7. Analyze the company’s value chain to determine where they can create value using the resources, capabilities, and core competencies discussed above.
8. Use at least three (3) quality references. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not quality as academic resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

• Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; references must follow APA format. 
• Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required page length.
