I choose IKEA, IKEA utilizes a hybrid type of JIT technology, to ensure each warehouse/store has the appropriate number of models and colors in order to fill the order directly at the store vice having to have it delivered at a later date. The performance of the brand is intended to have on hand 95% of everything they have in the store, if they sell out, they will indicate this in real time by placing signs on the product in the store. This type of solution means they can set up regional distribution centers in order to fill the warehouse orders. They also utilize RFID to ensure that human interaction is not necessary to order an item they are out of. Once the item is scanned at the register, the inventory is updated and once the inventory hits a predetermined threshold, a restocking order is sent automatically to the regional warehouse.

            3 areas of deficiencies are computer hacking, material shortages, strikes in the supply chain. A computer hacker can alter the automated process by modifying the rules the Information System uses for the ordering. Material shortages can stop production of the furniture or other goods used in the business. Strikes or external employee issues can cause delays in raw materials arriving on time. In the event of a rail or longshore man strike, the material or finished goods can be held up in transit. By having manufacturing localized or regionalized, the dependence on long distance international shipping is greatly reduced. By implementing a secured Identification solution to safe guard the Info System, this greatly reduces the chances of an cyber attack
