It is quite evident from the fact that with growing Internet technologies Wireless communication has undergone a rapid change and is continuously evolving. As the wireless communication technologies evolve the need for security has also become crucial. Wireless communications have been standardized based on protocols. Data transmission through wireless networks (WLAN) have been widely used in many office systems, home systems, educational institutions and government institutions, which has attracted hackers and have been soft spots for potential attacks.

As discussed in the earlier discussion proper knowledge of security must be given to all in the field of Data transmission. Some of the advantages of wireless data communication includes:

  1. Low installation and operation costs
  2. Maintenance free and easy to operate. Most of the wireless networks are plug and play.
  3. Can be easily accessed while the user in motion and can be accessed remotely.
  4. Higher speeds in data transfer can be achieved without compromising quality and with less noise

Although wireless data transmission methods have been evolving engineers are also developing advanced methods for data and network securities for wireless communication networks. Few of the disadvantages in present wireless communications are:

  1. Poor security and decryption over wireless transmission.
  2. Use of non-reliable networks which lack efficient encryption/decryption methods over wireless networks.
  3. Lack of knowledge on security and protocols by users. Users tend to fall a prey for free wireless networks without knowledge of data breaches.
  4. Poor setup of network architecture and wireless protocols.

Summarizing the soft targeting of wireless networks is that Wireless networks are setup on Wireless Application Protocol(WAP) not offering end to end protection. Latest technological advancements in the field of telecom like block chain, encryption/decryption algorithms have revolutionized the wireless technologies.
