unit 4 discussion 1 4

Aging and the Family

Family relationships are among the most enduring that people experience during increasingly long lives. Our roles as sons and daughters, wives and husbands, parents, siblings, and grandparents (and beyond) link many of us to a strong network of others with whom we share history, tradition, and responsibilities.

For your initial post in this discussion, reflect on your role as a human service and public service leader and explain your thoughts on the following:

  1. As you reflect on your family structure, such as the number of siblings in various generations/historical periods and ages at marriage and death, what larger social changes in the institution of the family in later life do you see reflected in the history of your family?
  2. Thinking about younger adults today (in their 20s), what changes in the timing of household events, family norms, and individual behaviors are likely to differentiate their cohort experiences of family in later life from those of individuals in their 70s today?
  3. When families provide care for an ailing or frail older relative, what supports would you recommend as a human service and public service leader to promote family caregiving to shift the balance toward greater rewards?

Support your thoughts with current references from professional literature.

exploratory essay draft 1 2

This essay is the first in a series of three essays that will deal with a single issue or event in the world today. In this essay, you will be explaining the facts of your event or issue, not presenting the various perspectives or your own personal view on your issue. This is the place where you present a view of the data the upcoming perspectives are based on.

You may choose to approach this assignment in one of several ways, depending on your issue. You may choose to present a timeline of events leading up to present day. You may choose to present the basic concepts on which your issue rests. You may choose to combine these approaches. However you approach this assignment, you need to remember to retain an empirical stance while striving to present your data in a unique, interesting way.

Some tips to completing this assignment successfully:

  • Try to find a unique angle or presentation for you issue in order to engage the reader.
  • Focus on one aspect of your broad issue–you’re going for depth, not breadth of coverage
  • Remember to stick to an empirical stance. You will have the chance to present the different sides of your issue, as well as your own position, at a later date.

This essay must be at least 600 words long, and set it Times New Roman font with 1-inch margins. Your text must be double-spaced and you must use MLA format. Also, remember to cite all information that you cull from outside sources.

You must have a hard copy of this essay during class for your scheduled workshop session. Late drafts will be assessed penalties and will not receive feedback.

in 3 pages answer one of the following being sure to include references to and short quotations from the readings 1

  1. Present in detail Descartes’ reasons for doubting the truth of all he believes on the basis of sense-experience and how he attempts to overcome his initial doubts.Explain whether he succeeds in defeating the philosophical skeptic.
  2. Compare and contrast Descartes and Locke on the nature of general ideas (the idea of some kind of thing, F, such as of a chiliagon, bachelor or dog), being sure to present in detail Descartes (and others) arguments for why to have such general ideas is not the same as to sensibly observe some sensibly apparent mental image of a F.
  3. Present and critically evaluate Locke’s account of how the mind acquires all its ideas from sensory experience, being sure to discuss his views on the nature of simple and complex ideas, general and particular ideas, and ideas of relations.
  4. Present and critically evaluate Locke’s account of the nature of substance and especially of primary and secondary qualities.
  5. Present and critically evaluate Hume’s account of causation, being sure to explain why he takes statements about what causes what to concern matters of fact, not relations of ideas, what the evidence is for whether A’s cause B’s, why we can never know that A’s cause B’s, and why there is no such thing as a ‘necessary connection’ between cause and effect or of a causal ‘power.’
  6. Present and critically evaluate Hume’s case for why there are no such things as ‘substances,’ whether ‘selves’ or mental substances’ or ‘bodies’ or ‘material substances.’

You must include in-text citations for all references listed. Also, all information used from a source must be paraphrased, cited, and referenced in APA. For further help please see: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/03/ or https://www.apastyle.org/

Some APA reminders: Do not use the first or second person in APA. Eliminate the use of I, we, our, you, yours, etc. Please use the templates EXACTLY as provided in assignments and announcements. Don’t change bolding or add spaces, etc. The templates are APA formatted and have all rubric requirements. Please make sure to proofread before submission. One of the best ways to do this is to read your paper aloud. Hearing what you’ve written is a great way to catch grammatical issues. Avoid contractions in APA. Spell out numbers zero to nine. Please see the Strayer Writing Center for further help as well as www.grammarly.com

Thank you for taking the time to review the feedback. If you have any questions, please email me at rachel.burger@strayer.eduTake care. Dr. B

apply statistics discussion

*Choose one statistical tool that you read about this week.

Consider a decision you need to make at work or at home.

Explain how this tool will help you make that decision.

Note: This must be original; do not use examples from the internet

Levels of Measurement Scale

Select four variables, other than what your fellow students have already selected, that could be measured by nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio scale. Classify them by measurement scale and select descriptive statistics that can be used to summarize data. Use the following table when posting your response:

Variable

Level of Measurement

Quantitative or Qualitative

Nominal

Ordinal

Interval

Ratio

*Important Terms

A variable is the general characteristic being observed on a set of people, objects, or events, where each observation varies in kind or degree. Labels or names are used to categorize the distinguishing characteristics of a qualitative variable ; eventually, these attributes may be coded into numbers for purposes of data processing. A quantitative variable assumes meaningful numerical values, and can be further categorized as either discrete or continuous. The possible values for a discrete variable may be counted, whereas a continuous variable can take on any value within an interval.

  • Asking a critical thinking question to inspire further discussion
  • or explain why and how you agree or disagree with the point expressed

*Why Study Math and Statistics?

One of my MBA students who works for a major mobile phone company posted this comment FYI:

Math provides quantitative support for decision-makers in all areas including engineers, analysts in planning offices and public agencies, project management consultants, manufacturing process planners, financial and economic analysts, experts supporting medical/technological diagnosis, and so on and on.

As an engineer in telecom industry for 32 years, there are some specific concepts of math that are commonly used by engineers are:

1. To help understand the physical fundamentals of telecommunications engineering projects.

2. To carry out the technical calculations necessary to plan a project.

3. To help with modeling and simulations to predict the behavior of networks before they are actually built.

4. To help them with business decisions and other ‘non-technical’ aspects of their jobs.
5. Forecasting for future network growth and technology.

Mathematics is an excellent foundation for, and is usually a prerequisite to, all areas of science and engineering. Persons in such areas as anthropology, sociology and psychology, as well as law, business and medicine benefit from a solid background in mathematics and statistics. In addition, mathematical training will help you to better understand science and technology and their effects on our world.

the balance sheet as an investors tool

The Balance Sheet as an Investor’s Tool

You know that both internal and external users have not only the short-term success, but also the long-term success of the company at the forefront of their minds. One way that users determine short-term and long-term success is by use of the Balance Sheet. On the Balance Sheet a user may look at Retained Earnings along with the portfolio of assets displayed and compare that to the liability side of the Balance Sheet.

What are the major limitations of the balance sheet as a source of information, and how can your role as an accountant ensure that the information presented does not include errors? How would you support your claim

Below is my classmate post

Phishing

Phishing is a type of social engineering attack often used to steal user data, including the user login credentials,SSN,credit card numbers. It has been around for more than 20 years. Even though people regularly fall victim to it

In June 2013, security firm Kaspersky Lab estimated that around more than 37 m people had faced phishing attacks around the last one year which includes around 1 million victims in the UK.

Symantec, estimates says that phishing accounted for 392 emails in a single day for one

Phishing is mainly about convincing you to reveal the information that could help attackers steal your money, sensitive information or install malware on your computer system, And also hacking your credit cards / bank account passwords others.

It works by pretending communications from companies that you trust such as banks, online payment firms like PayPal, social networks, and other technology companies, as well as government offices (such as tax authorities). According to Symantec, 71% of phishing attacks in the year 2013 were related to financial companies(organizations)

A lot of phishing attacks are fended off without you ever seeing them, with the spam filters being used by the company organizations as well as by the email service providers. But for those attacks which make it through to your inbox, there are some tips to ensure you don’t fall victim to such things.

No one wants to fall victim to a phishing scam, there are many successful enough for criminals to make massive profits. there are many ways to avoid becoming a victim from the attacks. Below are the 10 basic guidelines in keeping safe from the attacks:

1. Keep updated about phishing techniques.

2. Think before you click any links.

3. Install an anti-phishing toolbar

4. verify a site’s security

5. Check Your Online Accounts Regularly and change the passwords.

6. Keep Your Browser Up to Date

7. Use Firewalls.

8. Be Wary of Pop-Ups.

9. Never Give Out Personal Information anywhere.

10. Use Updated Antivirus Software

Every Organization should follow some various security measures in order to protect its sensitive data information for example

1. Company should train every individual employee while they join the company by providing some training guidelines to not disclose the company’s private information in case if there is any phishing attacks until the caller is identified. In the given situation is clear that the company organization is not expecting any phone calls from any of it’s computer vendor. So any person who is taking the call need to recheck about the caller and need to reach out his manager or supervisor before speaking any information related to the organization’s infrastructure.

2. Moreover, company needs to implement some access related limitations to all the employees and not every employee should be granted all the access to the company / organization’s information.

3. In order to avoid any security related threats such as calls and emails the company should have a strong firewall to filter suspicious emails from the attackers with unknown email id’s and divide them as spam emails and need to bring an awareness within the organization and employees on how to respond to these kinds of threats and the security team should monitor the companies email information’s regularly and address the issues whenever there is a need to be and protect the company from the phishing attack

4. Employees must delete any sensitive documents which may contain data information about any individuals or company before disposing them into recycle bin.
