For this assignment, assume you are charged with working with a hypothetical board of directors for a hypothetical health care organization. The organization is a not-for-profit community outpatient clinic. Members of the board should be from several walks of life, professions, ethnicities, cultures, and disciplines. The organization has formed recently as a result of a grant, and it needs to develop its mission and vision. Board members each have differing viewpoints about whether health care consumers still should be referred to as patients, as is the traditional philosophy, or if they should be identified as health care consumers, who should be included in their own care plan of treatment delivery. You must develop a mission/vision strategic planning agenda and lead the activity to reach a conensus on delivering care with a consumer-driven, team-centered health care delivery philosophy. Analyze what you will recommend to the board about transforming to this philosophy as part of the proposal for the grant funding.

Part 1

In your PowerPoint deck, include the following:
An agenda for the mission and vision development and strategic planning at the board meeting.
Background on the differing philosophies of referring to consumers as patients or as health care consumers.
Your recommendation (supported by citations from peer-reviewed literature) for a strategic vision for the organization and your reasons for recommending it.
Steps to guide the board through the strategic planning process.
Part 2

Part 3
Write a separate, short paper in which you summarize how you will lead the mission and vision development effort at the board meeting. In your summary:
Analyze how you will use communication methods to make sure all board members feel heard and included.
Analyze how you will apply concepts of emotional intelligence in conducting the meeting.
Explain how you will apply leadership competencies in conducting the meeting.
Explain how you will build consensus and cultivate creativity in the meeting.
